- The SCBWI Crystal Kite Award is the only peer-given award given in publishing for young readers.
- Started by Chris Cheng, the aim is to recognise great books from the 70 SCBWI regions around the world.
- Each SCBWI member is asked to vote for their favourite new book for the year.
