WELCOME TO THE SCBWI AUST./NZ CONFERENCE BLOG

WELCOME ON BOARD for a celebration of our community ... from Susanne Gervay, Regional Advisor, Australia and New Zealand.

Everyone waits for this bi-annual conference where authors and illustrators from around Australia & New Zealand come together to share industry news,  meet, share friendship and establish publishing and creative opportunities.

The conference blog is to help connect us – because our SCBWI Conference is about the before, during and after – sharing the passion of children’s books in whatever form they arrive.

I'd love to introduce those who don’t know our SCBWI Conference blog-master, Sheryl Gwyther. She’s an author and one of the  enthusiastic SCBWI Queensland coordinators. She’s also a director on the Australia Society of Authors Board.

Lesley Vamos, one of our talented SCBWI illustrators has created the SCBWI ANZ Conference logo

The Illustrator team with Frané Lessac , our Illustrator Coordinator, Sarah Davis, Lesley Vamos, Serena Geddes and Andrea Edmunds are making a splash for illustrators this year with:-
Portfolio showcase to industry
Illustrator critiques
Illustrator master-classes with Sarah Davis and Nina Rycroft
Illustrator and author panels

Jill Corcoran, the New York literary agent is flying over especially for this SCBWI Conference.
Our publishers will be here too – Sue Whiting from Walker Books, Zoe Walton from Random House, Lisa Berryman from Harper Collins, Tegan Morrison ABC Books, Karen Tayleur from Five Mile Press …. and more.
Hazel Edwards, author and director on the ASA Board, literary agents from Australia and New Zealand  and many more.

More news in our next blog.
